Daily responsibilities can include:
- Helping a service user get washed and dressed
- Meal preparation
- Providing company: chatting and sharing news
- Accompanying them to appointments or to the shops
- General household chores
- Involvement with writing care plans
- Providing information to family members regarding the care plan
- Ensuring that the resident’s needs and wishes are met.
- Working with other health and social care professionals to provide holistic care
- Recording and reporting essential information
- Administering medication under supervision (as detailed in their individual medication administration record)
- Giving feedback to other health and social care professionals
Being a care worker can be hard work. You’re responsible for some of the most vulnerable people in society, often in unique and challenging environments, but with care and compassion, you ensure people are looked after properly.
